Professor Jeremy Gans Appointed Honorary Advisor to Prosecutor General’s Academy
Prosecutor General Justice (Retired) Uz. Abbas Shareef has appointed Professor Jeremy Gans of Melbourne Law School as the Honorary Advisor to the Prosecutor General’s Academy.
Professor Gans is a leading legal academic in Australia, specializing in criminal justice and evidence law. He teaches the subject Evidence and Proof in the Melbourne JD program and has authored and co-authored several influential texts, including Uniform Evidence (2025) and Teaching Evidence Law: Contemporary Trends and Innovation. His research spans fact-finding in sexual assault trials, DNA identification, and procedural rights in criminal law. In 2007, he was appointed Human Rights Adviser to the Victorian Parliament’s Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee, contributing to legislative review and human rights advocacy. His work continues to shape legal education and reform in Australia.
This role was conferred in recognition of his distinguished academic contributions and his willingness to support the Academy’s mission to advance prosecutorial standards and promote the rule of law in Maldives.
